Sep. 28--BOSTON -- The Rhode Island pension fund yesterday began weighing options for disposing of a vacant downtown Providence office building, including selling it to the state at the request of the General Assembly's leaders.

The pension fund will take ownership of the property -- known as the American Express building -- based on a court order entered yesterday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Boston.
