Indonesia has grown from one of the poorest countries in the world to one of the fastest growing economies in the world. In 1967, the GNP was had a GNP of only $70 per person, but under the guidance of Suharto, who became president that year, the GNP is now $600 per person.
INDONESIA'S long march from poverty is nearly over. By 2000 the country, once a pauper among nations, should have joined the emergent middle class. The rise of a richer Indonesia will be more than just another Asian economic success story. With 184m citizens, Indonesia is now the world's fourth most populous nation. ...
