MAPPING AGENCY TO CONSOLIDATE IN COLO.(News)

The U.S. Geological Survey said Thursday that the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center will be consolidated in Colorado.

"We've avoided the closure of an office that has been located in Denver for more than half a century," said U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard, R-Colo. "This will also be a boon for Colorado's satellite imagery industry."

The center, which produces topographic maps, will consolidate the functions of field offices in Menlo Park, Calif., Rolla, Mo., and Reston, Va., into the one at the Denver Federal Center.
