THOUSANDS of British troops are to be sent into the "danger zone" of southern Afghanistan, Defence Secretary John Reid announced today.
Up to 5,000 personnel will be deployed to root out Taliban sympathisers and wage war against drug barons when Britain takes control of Nato forces next year.
