CHESAPEAKE - Civic leaders hope to build a $3.5 million visitor center near the Great Bridge Bridge in time to draw visitors celebrating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown in 2007 .

"Our goal is to hopefully have funds in hand to break ground sometime next year,'' said Lin Olsen, project coordinator for the Great Bridge Waterways and History Foundation. "That will be a dream come true.''
