The Japanese "Buy America" spree has turned into a bust, with Japanese acquisition of U.S. companies plunging by 50 percent in 1992, according to a study by a New York investment bank.
The only glimmer of good news in the bad news is that California led in terms of Japanese deal making -- such as it was.
