The exhibition focused on the attempts of serious artists to seek international recognition despite the stereotyped image of their Los Angeles, CA, background. California and Viennese artists acknowledged a kindred spirit in themes such as the Heidi-inspired dolls and religious-subject paintings.
Fighting West Coast cliche's, a group of L.A. artists featured in last year's controversial "Helter Skelter" exhibition brought new works to Europe for a show called "LAX."
