When Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick arrived at the Mountain West Conference's media day in late July, he was a bit dumbfounded.

Since the formation of the Mountain West before the 1999 season, Colorado State had been the league's football face. The Rams won three of the first four Mountain West titles, finishing second the other year.
