Fiddle virtuoso Vassar Clements, an A-list studio musician who played with Paul McCartney and other notables, died at his Nashville area home Aug. 16 after a battle with lung cancer. He was 77.

Clements last performed Feb. 4 in Jamestown, N.Y. His work bridged various styles, including country, jazz, bluegrass, rock 'n' roll and classical.
