When one is faced with combat as our armed service personnel are today, fear can become a hindrance or an aid. I can't remember being afraid of dying or getting hurt, but I do remember the fear of not performing as I was trained. I do remember the fear of failing. Would I remember what I was trained to do? My fear was of doing something, or failing to do something, and get someone else hurt or killed. I do remember wanting to be a dependable force for my unit and squad.
