Sticking with cork.(packaging methods of wineries)

Over the past few years, every time a winery has decided to bottle in screwcap or one of the other alternative bottle closures, the company issued a press release announcing the news. But when a winery decides to stick with natural cork, it doesn't qualify as news, for some reason. It's kind of like, "Well, we're still doing the same old thing here, so never mind."

Estimates vary, but most place the number of wine corks used annually in the United States at around 900 million, with worldwide use at between 13 and 15 billion. That's a bunch of corks, for sure. Wines ...
