Use iodized salt, or else pay a fine of P5,000 and possible one-year imprisonment.

These are the two choices that would await owners of restaurants, fastfood shops and other establishments serving food in Manila once a proposed ordinance filed by Councilor Irma Alfonso-Juson of District 1 is approved by the Manila City Council.

Councilor Irma Alfonso-Juson of District 1 said the ordinance would require the use of iodized salt in all business establishments which prepare and serve food on a commercial scale in Manila.
