WHY so soon? What more is there to say?
These were my responses to the Dulwich Picture Gallery's announcement of its current exhibition devoted to Graham Sutherland. Born in 1903, and in neighbouring Streatham to boot, the man who became "the outstanding English painter of his generation" should surely have been given a centenary celebration in Dulwich in 2003, not now, two years too late.
