`Dallas' matriarch Miss Ellie dies at 82.

Barbara Bel Geddes, best known for playing the martyred matriarch Miss Ellie on "Dallas," died Aug. 8 at the age of 82.

The Emmy-winning actress of stage and screen died of lung cancer in her Northeast Harbor, Maine home, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. She is the latest TV personality who has died of the disease. ABC anchor Peter Jennings passed away after a four-month battle with lung cancer on Aug. 7.
