Jul. 23--The Ohio Arts Council will award 419 grants totaling $7.74 million to arts organizations for the 2006-2007 fiscal biennium.
Ohio's support of the arts has dropped to $17.9 million, down from the $19.5 million that was awarded in the 2004-2005 biennium, said the council's Jami Goldstein.
The state's current fiscal year is 2006, which began July 1 and ends June 30, 2006.
Recipients include art museums, historical groups, symphonies, ballets, choirs, film groups, art schools, festivals, and individual artists.
