YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--Just two days after being named president and chief operating officer of Phar-Mor Inc., corporate turnaround specialist Antonio Alvarez moved to shore up the financial position of the embattled deep-discount drug chain by closing 36 unprofitable stores and announcing that an additional 27 outlets are likely to be shuttered.
