Miller benefits the Nature Conservancy. (Miller Brewing Co.)

The Nature Conservancy recently announced a $1-million contribution from Miller Brewing Co. to support the nation's "Last Great Places" initiative.

"The Last Great Places" are 12 working models for large-scale ecosystem conservation throughout the Western Hemisphere, a Miller spokesperson explained. Each incorporates plans for compatible economic activity, along with the preservation of species of natural systems.

The program, whose objective is to save outstanding remaining ecosystems in the United States, was unveiled in May 1991.
