Jul. 6--Devon Energy Corp. has made a $200 million purchase of oil and gas properties in western Canada, where it plans to drill more than 800 wells over the next four years, officials said Tuesday.

Oklahoma City-based Devon bought the properties in the Iron River area of western Canada from ExxonMobile Canada Energy.

The acquisition includes approximately 165,000 net acres that are largely undeveloped in an area about 120 miles northeast of Edmonton, Alberta.
