New York Life Insurance Co. says it will emerge as a top funding source for Westchester nonprofit groups next year, filling some of the void left behind in recent years by the departure of Texaco and other corporate giants.

The insurance giant's New York Life Foundation won't say yet how much in total funding it will make available--except that it will well exceed the total $65,000 awarded to five Westchester nonprofits last week.
