The Japanese carbon fibre producer Toray Industries is planning a [yen] 25 billion (about $233 million) expansion in production capacity of its polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fibre.

The company plans to add two integrated production lines for the carbon fibre covering polymerization, precursor spinning and carbonization (total of 1995 t a year), and one production line for prepreg (5.8 million m-2 a year). These additional facilities are expected to start operation...
