A HOVERCRAFT was officially named at a ceremony in Wirral over the weekend.

Funding for New Brighton RNLI's pounds 135,000 rescue hovercraft came from Kay Hurley MBE, after she was given medical aid by one of the lifeboat station's crew.

When she heard the RNLI was considering placing a hovercraft at New Brighton, she decided to visit the lifeboat station to find out more about it.

Unfortunately, while there, she was taken ill.
