More companies than ever are offering early retirement. If your employer wants to "package you out," should you take it? Here are some of the factors to Consider.

One of the first is whether you will ultimately be laid off if you do not accept early retirement. If your company is looking to reduce costs and cut jobs, they may offer early retirement in lieu of layoffs. But what if too few people take early retirement? Layoffs may follow.
