JAMAICAN Asafa Powell became the fastest man in the world last night after setting a new 100m record in the Olympic Stadium in Athens.
Powell, 22, set the new mark of 9.77seconds at the Athens Super Grand Prix meeting and then predicted he can go even faster this summer.
Powell, who beat Tim Montgomery's previous record of 9.78secs, said: "I knew that I could do it. I did my best. It feels great to be the fastest man of the world.
"But I know I can go faster. Who knows? Nine something... I love it here in Greece and I will come back here next ...
