Heather Smith was so excited about the chance to see the Chicago Bandits play she put off her birthday for a couple of months.

"I really wanted to see Jennie Finch," said Heather, a pitcher for the Lasalle-Peru Prowl softball team.

Heather turned 13 back on March 31.

But she celebrated her birthday Thursday night over cake with 12 teammates, who happily came out to Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex to see Finch, the professional women's softball team's star pitcher, strike out 12 batters en route to the first ...
