IN THE BEGINNING, ALL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT processes were lean, and it was good. New products flowed swiftly from concept to delivery. The same person would conceive an idea, design the product, and supervise its manufacturing. Value was added continuously, and work products never sat idle.
