Jun. 11--For the past two years, tourists trying to stay close to next week's U.S. Open would have had a hard time finding room at the inns.

About 90 percent of Moore County hotels have been booked for the United States Golf Association since 2003, said Caleb Miles, president and chief executive officer of the Convention & Visitors Bureau for the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area.

Now, a few of those rooms are available for the procrastinators who haven't yet found accommodations.
