Jun. 12--HAMPTON -- NASA Headquarters is working on taking the bite out of an accounting measure that has caused Langley Research Center wind tunnel rates to increase in recent years.

"We've had some feedback that wind tunnel costs have become prohibitive to some customers," said Tom Irvine, acting director for mission support.

Last year Congress told NASA to lower the fees it charges private companies for wind tunnel tests. Congress also barred the agency from closing any wind tunnels through September 2005. Wind tunnel research is a lifeline ...
