UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. -- Intrapartum fetal heart rate patterns can reveal urgent information about neurologic injuries suffered during labor, and also can identify brain damage sustained before the perinatal period.
"A large number of brain-damaged children arrive in that condition on our doorstep." Jeffrey P. Phelan, M.D., said at a meeting of the Obstetrical and Gynecological Assembly of Southern California.
