The Japanese Foreign Ministry announced that it has removed trade sanctions against Israel and called for the elimination of the Arab boycott against Israel. Israeli government and business representatives welcomed the Japanese policy reversal and are predicting increased trade and investment activities between the two countries. The Arab boycott has reportedly caused Israel a $500-million loss in trade with Asia and a $3-billion loss internationally.
