Probably our most significant writers, our "cousins," are those who recognize the limits of perception and language. Surely Queneau is one of these.
Pierrot, the "hero" of this early novel, is assaulted by banal or odd conversations, perverse significances, amusing coincidences, mysterious double-talk. Reality for him has little meaning except for its crazy unexpectedness.
