German bicycle manufacturer Canyon Bicycles GmbH has developed a racing bike chassis of carbon fibre reinforced plastic that weighs only 1.26 kg.
Developed with assistance from researchers at the Institut fur Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW), Germany, the lightweight frame also features a high stiffness to weight ratio that exceeds 100, an important goal for racing bicycles.
Called Carbon Ultimate F10, the carbon fibre chassis has received a Red Dot Design Award 2005,...
