Area readies for $3M stock show arena facilities.

May 27--MERCEDES -- The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show grounds are just a few months away from unveiling a multievent center and brandnew livestock facilities.

During a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday morning, dozens of city officials, area chamber of commerce representatives and stock show board members were able take a look at the specifics of the $3 million project.

Stock show Manager Jim Beale said the project began almost five years ago with the help of Congressman Ruben Hinojosa, D-Mercedes.
