Fans of "The Nutcracker" ballet, community theater and rhododendrons are among the beneficiaries of this year's Oregon Community Foundation grants.

The statewide foundation this week announced grants totaling $748,449 to 54 nonprofit agencies in Lane County. Statewide, the foundation distributed $6,892,100 among 568 nonprofit groups.

Among the largest grants awarded locally was $30,000 to the Eugene Ballet Company, to design and construct a new production of "The Nutcracker" to be performed in communities across the Northwest.…
