May 19--EAST CHICAGO -- Steelworkers at the Mittal Steel USA plant formerly known as Ispat Inland Inc. are receiving record profit-sharing checks for the first quarter of 2005 but shouldn't expect anything similar for the second.

Tom Hargrove, president of United Steelworker of America Local 1010, said the profit sharing of almost $8 per hour worked in the quarter is a record. The checks, dated May 27, will be mailed Tuesday.
