A place women are blue
a road opens to a flat rock bed
land tracks crushed to cinders of generations
high dust the sun cannot exhaust.
Beyond the mountains
as if they were such a place to reach through
a tenuous and hard way of life
the path itself pursues
and so may happiness lie in the beyond.
Has the century truly started here
where time is beaten silent under the climate
in a place time and weather are of a same word
gravelly through your throat:
"Tras os Tempos" "Tras os Montes,"
genders are kept apart
women in blue
men burly in shirts and coarse slacks.
