Although the ecumenical movement is going through hard times, supporters hope to tap what they see as enthusiasm for interchurch cooperation at the local level and bring in $150 million for the National and World councils of churches. Organizers of the campaign have embraced a strategy most likely to appeal to people in the pews: a cafeteria-style approach that gives potential donors a variety of program options.
