Q Our laboratory frequently performs chemistry tests on specimens collected on a mobile basis. These specimens may not be centrifuged for several hours; consequently, we report a very high percentage of low glucose values. Is there a common schedule for the percentage drop in glucose per hour in specimens stored at room temperature, in chilled specimens, and in specimens exposed to heat?
