The animals at the Central New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals need more room to run around.

The 50-year-old building also needs repairs.

"It's wearing out," said Betsie Puffer, cruelty investigator with the SPCA for 20 years. "It's in need of major renovations, electrical and plumbing."

The group uses its annual Have-A-Heart campaign to address one problem every year. Organizers hope to raise at least $10,000 this year to construct outdoor runs for the animals.
