Recovering fluorspar from waste hydrofluoric acid.(Environment and recycling)

Morita Chemical Industries Co Ltd has developed a process that will recycle fluid waste from semiconductor factories to recover pure fluorspar. Until now, the liquid has been treated as industrial waste but the company aims to create a recycling network.

Hydrofluoric acid is processed to produce fluororesins, which exhibit excellent resistance to heat and corrosion, and for chlorofluorocarbons, which are used as coolants in fridges and air-conditioners. Hydrofluoric acid is also used as an etching fluid in the manufacture of semiconductors and liquid crystal display panels.
