The newest German F124-class frigate FGS Sachsen (F219) started basic operational training on Dec. 6, 2004, in Plymouth, UK, under NATO's Flag Officer Sea Training program.
The frigate, built by Blohm + Voss (Hamburg, Germany), was commissioned on Nov. 4, 2004, after extensive sea trials lasting more than year.
