Elpida Memory, a Japanese supplier of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), announced the availability of 512 Megabit XDR DRAM devices in sample quantities.

Elpida Memory said the new devices operate at 3.2 GHz, providing an industry-leading data transfer rate of 6.4 Gigabytes per second (GB/s) within a single device for digital consumer electronics applications.
