Despite advances in the world of printing, and the economic downturns of the early 21st century, the bookbinding market is still going strong. Libraries, universities, and other institutions often need to restore and preserve printed materials for archival purposes, and bookbinding is frequently the solution of choice. Much of the work once done by hand is now automated and done digitally, though some businesses still do handbinding to this day--and make money at it, to boot.
