Miami investor Eli Hadad paid off about half of his back taxes and water bills Friday, bringing most of his Onondaga County properties current, Hadad and Syracuse city officials said Monday.

Hadad still owes $144,834 on the former Marsellus Casket Warehouse in DeWitt and about $142,000 on 220 S. Warren St. in the city, according to city and DeWitt records. He also owes about $5,500 in back water bills for 220 S. Warren St., the Merchants Bank building.
