The European Commission is investigating complaints that UK consumers pay more to download music from Apple's website than customers on the continent.

Officials are looking into whether differences of as much as 20 per cent amount to unfair and anti-competitive pricing policy in breach of EU rules.

They are also checking allegations that UK consumers trying to beat the extra cost are being stopped fromdownloading tracks from foreign websites at cheaper prices...
