People with at least one risk factor for developing kidney disease are 50% likely to develop the disease and most do not know it, according to a new report published by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).

The findings, which are the first reported from the NKF Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP), were based on blood urine tests of more than 11,000 people, all of whom had at least 1 of the 2 leading causes of kidney disease-diabetes or high blood pressure-or a family history of kidney disease or either risk factor.
