Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) is a Saudi Arabian corporation which is now 70 percent owned by the Saudi government. SABIC was set up in the late 1970s to work jointly with several firms to use petroleum-based feedstocks in making polyethylene, a type of plastic.
