Engineers and farmers met Thursday on the need to fix Fern Ridge Dam and wrestled with a difficult question: How much water is enough to irrigate crops?

The volume of water available for irrigation will drop substantially after July 1 once the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins repairing the failing 64-year-old dam in June, said Mark Dasso, project manager, during a meeting at Lane Community College.
