Feb. 18--KOLKATA, India -- Satyajit Ray, thankfully, never lived to see this -- his classic, Kanchenjunga, caught in an ugly legal battle over distribution rights.

Ray directed Kanchenjunga, his first colour film, in 1962. Now, 43 years later, a Diamond Harbour court will decide who gets to distribute it. The root of this decadeold problem is a cheating case for which the original distributor has even had to spend a few days in jail.
