What is your favorite newspaper cartoon? Is it "Garfield"? Maybe it's "Foxtrot" or "Peanuts." Those cartoons are also called comics or funnies. They are meant to make you laugh. Other cartoons, though, are drawn to make you think. They are called editorial cartoons.
Editorial means "point of view" or "opinion." In a newspaper, editorial writers use words to comment on news events. Cartoonists use drawings to make a point.
