Financial and philosophical pressures are forcing the University of Toronto to re-design its curriculum

Much has been written about the future of chemical engineering [1-5]. For example, Amundsen et al [1] wrote about a paradigm shift, a change in scale, a focus on the frontiers of the discipline. Others have pointed out a need for teamwork, more practical skills [6], or the shift from commodities to specialities, from analysis to synthesis, from process design to product design.
